Kakapo Shipwreck Noordhoek Beach Visit

We are excited to announce our first collaborative ArchSoc trip planned for the year that has been arranged by the UCT Archaeology Field Club to Noordhoek Beach to visit the Kakapo Shipwreck that sank in 1900. This will be a whole day outing (09h00 to 15h00) with a picnic on the beach for lunch. The walk on the beach to the shipwreck will be approximately 3km return, therefore a total of 1h30min return walking, so be prepared for a long sandy walk.
Those who are able to provide transport for the archaeology students will be compensated at R3/km. Please indicate on the form below if you are willing to help out in this way.

Meeting Time at UCT: 9h00
Meeting Point for Lifts at UCT: At the Residence Road Parking below Beattie Building (see map)
If you do not need, or are not offering, a lift, you can meet us at Noordhoek Beach.

ArchSoc Members (please provide Membership Number on the form below) are required to pay a fee of R45.00 and Non-Members to pay a fee of R65.00.

Reminder to pack (amongst others): lunch, water, hat & good walking shoes as it is a long beach walk (sandals/barefoot not advised due to sand). Do not forget your sunblock.
