About the Talk:
This presentation will introduce the audience to Global Digital Heritage Afrika (GDHA), a research group at the University of Cape Town. GDHA is dedicated to the digital documentation of heritage sites, monuments, and museum collections for research, conservation, and interpretation. Some of the 3D heritage documentation and research that has been done locally and internationally will be demonstrated. Siddique will also touch on some of the community work that has been done in areas of apartheid forced removals.

About the Speaker:
Dr Siddique Motala is the academic lead of Global Digital Heritage Afrika (GDHA), a research group based at the University of Cape Town (UCT). For the last 15 years, Siddique has been mapping and researching District Six and other sites of apartheid forced removals. He conducts transdisciplinary research with a diversity of disciplines such as history, film & media studies, computer science, education, museum studies and archival studies. He is a trained land surveyor and holds a PhD in Education. His research interests are spatio-temporal mapping, 3D heritage preservation, storytelling, posthumanism and socially just pedagogies in engineering education.
