An observation of how enslaved, exiled and freed people at the Cape were able to socially escape slavery through alternative temporal relations. Exploring the use of the Javanese Calendar at the Cape.

About the Speaker
Daiyaan Petersen is an Honours Graduate from UCT in the environmental and Geographical Sciences department. He is presently the chairperson of the Cape Family Research Forum and Deputy Chairperson of the WC Archives Advisory Council.
